Sci-Fi has really taken off in mainstream media, and I’m loving it. But it’s not just the big screen that’s getting all the geeky action, it’s also on the home screen with some very promising new and upcoming sci-fi TV shows being announced.

Game of Thrones

This weekend is going to start off with a BANG. I’m going to come right out and say it. Game of Thrones is back, and there’s no denying it’s right as king of the sci-fi shows everyone is waiting to watch. Game of Thrones season 5 – what’s going to happen to Tyrion? Will we see more White Walkers action? Will there be more boobies?!

Daredevil

Netflix knows what it’s users want, and the highly anticipated hero Daredevil had all 13 episodes of his first series released today. That’s right, you can watch every episode in one long, glorious marathon. No spoilers though, because I have a family celebration this weekend and won’t be able to watch it till Monday.

Dark Matter

The SyFy channel has shocked everyone and created a brand new Sci-Fi series! Huzzah! Not available until June, the space set series is being lead by Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie who produced and wrote the StarGate series. You can read the comic Dark Matter which the series is based off though.

Supergirl

There’s no trailer for this one, but there’s been a lot of talk after Melissa Benoist’s soon to be costume was revealed. I’m looking forward to seeing what tone Supergirl will cast, being a huge fan of the older Superman series, I hope they don’t modernise too much.

Tatau

Supernatural drama by BBC Three, Tatau is described as a “Teen show accessible for young people”. The premise is, a bunch of backpackers have landed on an island and and after one of them drinks something strange, he starts getting visions. It turns into a “what’s real, what’s not real?” story chase, but shows some promise.
